- 2008 Official Rules
- NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
- 1. Entry. Beginning 12:00:01 AM EDT on Monday September 1st, 2008 through 11:59:59 PM EDT on October 17th, 2008 (the 'Contest Period'), log on to www.noknownsurvivors.com (the 'Site') and follow the instructions to register for the Ishimura Aptitude Test. Entrants can enter the quiz section of the www.noknownsurvivors.com web site through the designated "Ishimura Aptitude Test" terminal on the web site. LOGIN or REGISTER and begin working on the questions provided in the Ishimura Aptitude test terminal. Each week there will be between six (6) and ten (10) new questions updated on the page in a new section of the www.noknownsurvivors.com web site. Each time an entrant would like to complete new questions he or she will have to LOGIN or REGISTER. All questions will be free-form text submissions; all questions are displayed on one page with a global SUBMIT button at the bottom. Text fields with no content are treated as an incorrect answers. Upon submission, answers are validated, and data is returned to entrant with the number of questions answered correctly and the number of questions answered incorrectly, which answers were incorrect, which answers were correct, and an update to the total number of points accrued to that date by the entrant.
- Entrants; scores are displayed in a global "Total Score" area referred to as the leaderboards at deadspace.ea.com/noknownsurvivors. Returned questions with CORRECT answers are locked and cannot be accessed again. For questions with INCORRECT answers, entrants are locked from resubmitting answers until the following day. Each new day begins at 12:01am EDT . Other than as noted above, entrants are able to go back to previous outstanding questions at any time throughout the Contest Period and submit answers.
- SCORING
- 1. On Monday of each week during the Contest Period between six (6) and ten (10) new questions will be added to the Site. A correct answer to each question is worth 10 points on the Monday that thequestion is released.
- 2. Each correct answer to a question loses 20% of its value at 12:00:01 AM EDT each day following the Monday release of the question until Friday of the week the question was released. See the chart below illustrating scoring.
- 3. On and after the first Friday following the release of a question, the point value for each correct answer to such question shall be and remain 2 points through the end of the Contest Period.
- 2. Eligibility. This Contest is only open to residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and Canada (excluding Quebec) who are 18 years of age or older at time of entry and who had Internet access as of August 22nd, 2008. Residents of Quebec are not eligible. Employees of Electronic Arts Inc., and its respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parents, representatives, advertising, promotion and publicity agencies ('Sponsor and its agents') and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of each are not eligible. Contest is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law. All federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations apply.
- 3. Prizes. There are 100 Prizes.
- 1 Grand Prize Winner will receive a life size replica of Isaac Clarke’s helmet, and one (1) copy of the Ultra Limited Edition of Dead Space. The approximate retail value (ARV) of the prize is USD $1,650.00
- 10 First Prize Winners will receive one (1) copy of the Ultra Limited Edition of Dead Space. The approximate retail value (ARV) of the prize is USD $149.99
- 89 Second Prize Winners will each receive one (1) copy of the Dead Space video game on either PC, Xbox360, or PS3. The approximate retail value (ARV) of the prize is USD $59.99.
- All entrants are eligible to receive a $5.00 off coupon from the EA Store that may be used towards a purchase of Dead Space or other products available in the store. The approximate retail value (ARV) of the prize is USD $5.00
- Prizes are not transferable. No substitution of prizes for cash or other goods and services is permitted, except Sponsor reserves the right to provide a substitute prize of approximately equal or greater value, if the advertised prize becomes unavailable. Games, including platform for play, to be awarded as prizes are within the sole discretion of Sponsor and subject to availability. Consoles are not included in prizes. All taxes, including, without limitation, all federal, state, provincial, and local taxes, and international tariffs, are the sole responsibility of the each individual winner.
- Winner Selection and Notification. Winners will be determined on or about October 13th, 2008 from all eligible entries received as follows:
- Sponsor or its designee, the judge of the Contest, in their sole discretion, will rank the entrants based on their scoring and standings on the www.noknownsurvivors.com leaderboards as of the contest end date on or about October 13th, 2008. In the unlikely event of a tie, tied entrant who obtained his or her total score with the fewest attempts to answer the questions will be deemed the higher scoring entrant between or among the tied entrants. . Winners will be notified on or about October 14th, 2008 by an email sent to the email address specified on the Contest entry. Winners may be required to complete and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility and, except where prohibited, Liability/Publicity Release, in the form provided by Sponsor, within 3 days of attempted notification in order to claim Prize If the winner cannot be contacted at the email address provided, is contacted and does not respond as directed within 3 days of attempted notification, refuses the prize or is ineligible to accept the prize, the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. All prizes claimed in accordance with the Official Rules will be awarded. Winner may be required to provide a U.S. or Canadian shipping address to claim prize. Allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
- 5. General Conditions. Sponsor and its agents are not in any way responsible or liable for damages, loss or injury resulting from participation in this Contest or the acceptance, possession, shipping and handling, loss, use or misuse of any prizes awarded in this Contest. Entrants and winners assume sole liability for injuries, including personal injuries and/or damage to property, caused or claimed to be caused by participating in this Contest or the acceptance, possession, shipping and handling, loss, use or misuse of any prize awarded. Sponsor has the right to cancel, terminate or modify this Contest if it cannot be completed as planned due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures, or other conditions beyond Sponsor's control, and to select winners from eligible entries received on or before the termination date.. Sponsor is not responsible for any failure to contact entrants whether due to technical or human error.
- By entering this Contest, entrants agree (i) that Sponsor may post their entries on Sponsor's website and in any and all publicity and advertising for Electronic Arts, this Contest or other promotions by sponsor without any further attribution, notification or compensation to entrants and, except if entrant is a resident of TN or otherwise where prohibited by law has the right to use entrant's user or screen name and hometown therewith; (ii) agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges (iii) agree to be contacted by Sponsor or its agents by telephone, mail and/or email regarding this Contest; and (iv) irrevocably assign and transfer to Sponsor any and all rights, title, and interest in the entry, including without limitation, all copyrights and a waiver of all moral rights in the entry. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may edit, composite, morph, scan, duplicate, alter and/or otherwise modify any entry, in whole or in part, for publication or for any other purpose. Sponsor shall have no obligation (express or implied) to use any of the entries. Entrants shall not be entitled to any damages or other relief by reason of Sponsor's use or non-use of any entry. The Contest is governed by the laws of the United States and all claims must be resolved in the United States. If there is a dispute regarding the identity of an entrant, the entry will be deemed submitted by the person in whose name the email account is registered.
- 6. Winners list. A winners list will be available at http://deadspacegame.ea.com/noknownsurvivors after all winners are determined and verified and posted for approximately two weeks.
